Girlfriend, them shoes Must hurt!

I really like Roman Sandals. Call me old or old school, I really do not care. I have liked them from youth and any woman who wore them consistently remains firmly in my subconscious.

I really like Roman Sandals. Call me old or old school, I really do not care. I have liked them from youth and any woman who wore them consistently remains firmly in my subconscious.

Roman sandals, with clean feet of course, worn by a woman made her have that baby-walk / baby-bounce. If her toenails were nicely painted, I could walk with her all day.

Stilettos used to scare me as a kid, the fear of any aunty mistakenly stepping on your bare foot with one of those, was the beginning of wisdom. The 6-inchers were the most dreaded.

Scholls was a brand for nice and easy wear. They unfortunately were turned into flying weapons aimed at your head by mothers and big sisters when you did wrong. Dr. Scholl lost a lost of male fans from youth and I wonder if the business ever recovered.

Women still wear shoes today, thank God. Sex In The City made Manolo Blahniks a global rage amongst all the name brands, some of which we cannot spell their names.

Men do appreciate women’s fashion. We most recently had to live with Hipsters and Low-Rider Jeans. Some bum-cracks were a pleasure while some others were just, well, let’s not go there.

Baby Dolls dresses caught us on the hop. Mummys in Baby Dolls and some not-so-dollie women in baby dolls. I guess it all makes for being a fashionista. The mirror should make somethings clear before we step out of the home.

Skinny Jeans were another thing that looked very nice but had you sometimes wonder how some piled all that stuff in them. Maybe they have cracked mirrors at home. Cheap Chinese Mirrors are really no good despite the bargain prices.

Back to the terror of the day. Those shoes. What Shoes?

There are these things called a variety of names, the most consistent name is the F-me Shoes. Now these are really scary and I often wonder where fashion is going.

Did a bit of research on F-me Shoes and wondered what the message in the name is. From the name we should not make the assumption that it is an open invitation to carnal pleasures, if the ‘me’ was changed to ‘you’, you might not find it so pleasant.

Big bulky and crampy looking fronts, piled high and then the magic of how they get the soles to rise, so high, that your heel rests on a thin-looking stiletto 6 – 9 inches high?

Women seem to be literally standing on their toes in these shoes. Calf muscles must really feel a lot of strain and legs must need special orthopedic attention at the end of each long day?

Is this fashion or women are trying to test the limits of human balance and endurance?

Maybe since the decline in sales of Dr. Scholls, women need yet another weapon to stab you to death with. And some men have been know to pay good money for women to walk all over them at lunchtime, in these things?

Unlike my beloved Roman Sandals of days gone by, the baby-walk / baby-bounce has been replaced with a variety of duck-walks, penguin-feet and wobbles like a drunk Vivienne Westwood on a fashion runway.

Then I saw the F-me Shoes as thigh-high boots!

The ordinary F-me shoes look heavy enough. The boots look like an anaconda after a feast of Wildebeest. Big, Huge and dangerously Ugly.

Until someone tries to wear these thigh-high boots in tropical Africa, the most amazing so far is seeing them worn with traditional wear. This makes the balancing act of the headgear more precarious.

For yet another reason, it must be way easier to be a man. A t-shirt and a pair of jeans; hold in your bulging beer-belly and you are good to go.

It’s the weekend and nothing serious can happen before Monday but it gives us time to reflect. There is always something to debate or review anyway.

I am not sure where women’s fashion is taking us next but I can’t help thinking, Girlfriend, those Shoes must Hurt!

Worn them lately? What do you think?
