Whosoever emerges as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria following Saturday’s elections faces a country more divided, segmented and regionalized since the Civil War.

I have been incessantly asked to predict the outcome of the upcoming presidential Elections of 16^th April 2011 in Nigeria. I am not sure why so many think my opinion counts but here goes.

The season for selections has just ended. Like the transfer market in the English Premiership, some much anticipated moves did not happen, some made us laugh and others simply defied understanding.

The massive change of personnel on some party platforms in the various legislative and executive positions across the country is indicative of the way we go from here on.

It is difficult to stay away from the issues concerning Nigeria when you are Nigerian and at home.

Welcome to 2011, a very defining year for the country in which much will be decided and a clearer picture shall emerge on the direction and the firm divides that are unique to this country.

The question must be asked, just who Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu? The former two-term governor of Lagos State is gradually making a National Hero of himself. This may be intentional or inadvertent.

I gather the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign camp are celebrating. I gather they are back-slapping and looking forward to an easy ride at the PDP Primaries. I gather they are happy that Adamu Ciroma’s group opted for Atiku Abubakar. I would advise them not to pop the champagne just yet.
